A simple explanation of one of the two basic problems of theoretical ecology
First, the mechanism of self-organization of one-species biocenosis in homogeneous habitat is revealed via an extremely simple mathematical model. After that the explanation of the reason of stable functioning of an ichthyocenosis of roach (Rutilus rutilus) and pike alone is given. In particular, the stabilizing role of a long-living predator is brought to light. However, the model we use to investigate the question is more complicated.
